Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School organized a Tie and Dye Activity on Friday, 10 July 2026. The activity was conducted with the support of Vidyanjali volunteer Ms. Usha Mittal. More than 200 students participated in the activity.
The session introduced students to the basic techniques of tie and dye, a traditional textile art. Students learnt different fabric-folding and binding methods, including spiral, stripe, and crumple patterns, using rubber bands and twine. They then applied fabric dyes to create different colour combinations and patterns on white cotton fabric.
The activity helped students understand the process of dye absorption, colour application, and pattern formation. It also provided practical exposure to a traditional craft while developing observation, creativity, and fine motor skills.
At the end of the session, students unfolded their dyed fabrics and observed the patterns created through different tying techniques. The activity provided a practical learning experience and encouraged participation in art and craft-based learning.
